Blair Doon Veterinary Hospital 2025 Newsletter
We want to thank all of you for being a big part of our 2025: for being there as our clients and our friends; for sharing in the accomplishments, the laughs, and the tears. We are so grateful that you trust us with your pet’s care.
You’ve probably noticed a couple of changes at the front desk.
Miya has transferred from greeting you as a Customer Service Representative to helping your pet as a Veterinary Assistant. She is enjoying the chance to work more closely with your pets.
And, we have a new Customer Service Representative – Rachel. If you’ve met her, you know that she fits right in at the front desk. Along with greeting you with a smile, she works hard to make sure you and your pet get the help you need.
There have also been some changes in the treatment area of the clinic.
Gabby recently graduated from Veterinary Technician school and passed her Technician National Exam. She is now a Registered Veterinary Technician, allowing her to take on an even larger role in the care of your pets. Way to go Gabby!
Nellie, our Kennel Manager, is training as a Veterinary Assistant and exploring options for Veterinary Technician school. She has done an amazing job in the kennel – keeping us organized and your pets safe and happy. We’re thrilled that she is now interested in furthering her veterinary medicine education.
Leslie, our newest Registered Technician, is a perfect addition to our Blair Doon family. She has a passion for veterinary anesthesia and is outstanding at keeping her patients comfortable during surgeries and dental procedures. We’re so grateful she joined us.
Morgan, who was a Veterinary Assistant at Blair Doon for about 3- 1/2 years, had a couple of big changes this fall. She got married and started Veterinary School. We’re so excited for her and loved seeing her at our staff holiday party!
Do you remember Jackson? He began working in our kennels and then transferred to a Veterinary Assistant position. We’re proud to say that Jackson has also started Veterinary School. We’re glad we had a chance to be a part of his veterinary medicine journey.
Have you missed seeing Olive at the clinic? She now lives with Miya. Being a clinic cat was fun, but being a house cat and having buddies to play with is even better.
Our staff constantly endeavors to stay informed about the latest and best advances in veterinary medicine so that we can offer the very best care to your beloved pets. We never quit learning!
Continuing Education
In addition to our yearly Continuing Education, this year’s learning opportunities included:
Dr. Clara traveled to Kansas City to attend a Fetch Veterinary Conference. She said she gained knowledge in multiple areas of dermatology and internal medicine, as well as the new challenges being faced by our small animal companions today.
Ella and Sydney participated in the American Veterinary Medical Association Convention in Washington, DC. They attended a variety of interesting sessions, including one about advanced dentistry skills for both dogs and cats. They also learned how to use their unique personal skills as a technician to better support their teammates and provide the highest level of care for your pets.
Christie expanded her managerial knowledge in a Women in Leadership class hosted by The Thread. She said she learned a lot about herself as she evaluated her strengths and values, and how to effectively lead with those. Thank you to Dr. Beins for giving us so many opportunities to learn and better our skills. All this just makes our Blair Doon team even better!
Community Outreach
Blair Doon Veterinary Hospital and our staff have been active in our community in 2025.
We are currently collecting canned goods for the Kansas Food Bank. Until December 31, donate a canned good and receive a $10 credit on your account to be used toward your pet’s care.
This year, the clinic has provided very low cost spays, neuters, and vaccines for 25 cats in the Friends of Felines program.
We are a sponsor for the Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens, and some of our staff actively support its programs by volunteering there.
We hired and mentored a wonderful young lady through Pyxis Path. Your pets got to know her as she helped in our kennels and gave your fur babies lots of love and pats.
And, we proudly shopped local on Small Business Saturday.
You can often find our staff members volunteering for and participating in local organizations, such as Meals on Wheels, Spay & Neuter KS, the Kansas Family Business Forum, and Hands and Paws. Dr. Sullivan, in her semi-retired days, is working with WSU Veterinary Technician students to teach them everything they need to know about anesthesia. We are blessed to be a part of such an amazing community and want to support the organizations that make the Wichita area a wonderful place to live.
Thank you so much to those of you who donated to our Good Samaritan Fund. Your generosity allowed us to provide veterinary care for 12 needy pets. I’m sure if these cats and dogs could talk to you, they would say thank you!
We’re excited to share that our practice is getting a fresh new name and a beautiful new home (very close to the current clinic).
While our look and location are changing, one thing isn’t: we’re still the same locally owned team you know and trust. Thank you for growing with us – more updates to come!
